As first-time home buyers, we were very concerned about trusting our agent. We were referred to David by people in the neighborhood. We went to one of his open houses, and noticed how he gave everyone that came through equal and meaningful attention. We told him that we were almost ready financially, and he helped us understand the importance of being ready to buy on the first day that we start looking at houses. His honesty and straightforwardness immediately earned our trust.
So, we took a step back and saved some more money. He never bothered us, just checked in and encouraged us to keep saving, and, when we were ready to buy, he was ready to help. All of his advice was right on the mark, too: houses were selling fast, and we needed to be ready to pull the trigger at any second with an attractive offer.
We made a large list of house requirements for David, most of them centering around creativity(we are both artists), animals(we have a small zoo), gardening(urban farming) and neighborhoods in or around Merriam Park (St. Paul). David worked day and night to provide us with information about anything in our desired area that met our criteria. It was so great to walk through houses and have him say things like, “I’m not sure about this one, I can’t imagine where you will paint,” or “definitely room for chickens and the garden in this yard” and not hear just a bunch of buzzwords and specs. David had taken the time to get to know us and what is important to us, and he searched with those things in mind always. His understanding and dedication was beyond what we ever expected to get out of a real estate agent.
The house-hunting process, honestly, is a huge blur, but I do recall how he was always willing to meet with us at our convenience. Within 3 weeks, he found the perfect house for us! He took the lead and guided us through every step of the buying process. We never worried that we were forgetting something because David was always one step ahead of our worries. We never thought that buying our first house could be so manageable!
